Deepak comes from India. Before coming to Sweden, he worked as a Software Engineer for two years at Synamedia. His bachelor studies were in Computer science and Engineering. His hobbies are playing badminton and table tennis, and he also enjoy reading books.

Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

I chose the master's programme in Software Engineering of Distributed Systems at KTH because of its excellent reputation in software engineering and distributed systems. I was always interested in software development and wanted to explore more in this domain and how one can contribute towards sustainable software development. KTH is known for its high-quality education and research facilities, and I wanted to be a part of an institution that offers cutting-edge knowledge and practical experience in this field. The programme's curriculum aligned closely with my career goals, providing a comprehensive understanding of software engineering principles and distributed systems.

Have you chosen a specialisation track within the programme? If Yes, which way and why?

I have chosen a specialisation track within the Software Engineering of Distributed Systems programme at KTH. I have opted for the Data Science specialisation track. I chose this track because of my interest in data analysis and machine learning. Data Science offers exciting opportunities to work with large-scale datasets, extract insights, and make data-driven decisions in various industries. By specialising in Data Science, I aim to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in this rapidly growing field and pursue a career where I can leverage data to drive innovation and solve complex problems.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

Studying at KTH has been a significant transition compared to my previous studies. KTH offers a more research-oriented and interdisciplinary approach to education, focusing on practical applications and real-world problem-solving. The challenging and demanding coursework provides ample opportunities for hands-on learning and collaboration with peers and industry professionals. The assignments helped me explore the course more deeply by using a few tools related to the coursework. The resources and facilities available at KTH are top-notch, and the emphasis on innovation and critical thinking has pushed me to grow academically and professionally.

How is student life in Stockholm?

Stockholm offers a vibrant and enriching student life. The city is known for its cultural diversity, active social scene, and numerous student organisations and clubs, such as THS and photography club, to name a few. There are plenty of opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities, attend seminars and workshops, and explore the city's rich history and natural beauty. I live in the Lappis student accommodation, and life here has been great. Several activities are happening here throughout the year. There are plenty of places here to explore and hike, which I love to do during the weekends. Additionally, Stockholm is a hub for technology and innovation, providing numerous networking and career development opportunities for students in the field of software engineering. events during my first year as a student at this university.

How would you describe your time at KTH so far?

My time at KTH has been enriching and fulfilling. The challenging coursework and collaborative learning environment have allowed me to enhance my technical skills and expand my knowledge in software engineering and distributed systems. The faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive, and the academic atmosphere is conducive to growth and exploration. Additionally, the vibrant student community and various events organised by the university have made my experience at KTH genuinely memorable.

What do you want to do after graduating?

After graduating, I aim to leverage the knowledge and skills gained during my master's program to pursue a career in software engineering, particularly in Data Science and Distributed Systems. I aspire to work on innovative projects that contribute to developing and advancing cutting-edge technologies. Additionally, I am open to research opportunities or further academic pursuits to deepen my expertise in Sustainable software development.
