Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

Growing up in Peru, I was always surrounded by people with great ideas and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. However, I also saw how hard it was to turn those ideas into something scalable or long-lasting. I saw so much potential around me and felt the need to take the next step. I’ve always been driven by the idea of using entrepreneurship to solve real problems and create opportunities, especially in places where access is limited.

I chose this programme because I wanted to learn how to build solutions that are not only creative but also scalable and impactful. My background in business made me curious about how tech and innovation could strengthen that. When I read about Technology-Based Entrepreneurship at KTH, it felt like the perfect fit. It’s not just about learning theory but actually applying it through real projects and teamwork. Coming to Sweden also gave me the chance to experience a different mindset around innovation, sustainability, and how people work together. It’s been a big shift, but that’s exactly what I was looking for.

What are the best aspects of your programme?

What I like most is how practical and dynamic it is. We don’t just learn theory. We work on real cases, collaborate in international teams, and constantly receive feedback that helps us improve. One thing I really value is the opportunity to apply to KTH Innovation. If you have an idea, you can get expert coaching, advice, and a clear structure to move it forward. That kind of support makes a big difference.

Another thing that makes the experience so unique is how international and open it is. You meet people from all over the world, and you’re encouraged to learn from each other. Since KTH is part of the Stockholm university network, you can also join student groups and communities outside of KTH. That opens up even more perspectives and makes student life more diverse and complete.

What are some of your favourite courses so far?

One of my favorites has been Business Opportunity Development. It was actually the first course I had at KTH, so I was a bit nervous at the beginning. But it turned out to be super entertaining and challenging in the best way. It really pushed me to think beyond what I already knew and to work fast, test ideas, and stay open to feedback. It also helped me feel more confident working in a new environment and with an international team.

I also really enjoyed Entrepreneurial Family Firms. Coming from Latin America, I’ve seen how big of a role family businesses play, but this course helped me understand them from a completely new angle. It showed me how things like values, trust, and long-term vision are just as important as strategy or profits.

How is student life in Stockholm?

Life as a student in Stockholm feels like a healthy balance. At KTH, we study in periods instead of semesters, which means the courses move fast, but you stay focused and engaged, which keeps things fresh. I remember being surprised at how much you can learn in just a few weeks. Sure, it can feel intense, but it also gives you a real sense of progress.

The class schedules give you a lot of flexibility. Some days you have a lecture in the morning, and the rest of the day is yours, so you can use that time to catch up on assignments, meet your group, or just sit in one of the study buildings at KTH. I’ve spent many hours in the library and other buildings, sometimes alone with music, sometimes with friends working late on a project. It’s easy to find your rhythm and space.

Beyond academics, there’s always something happening. From international student events to random fika meetups or walks around the city, connecting with others is easy. You also get the chance to meet students from other universities, which makes everything more fun and diverse.

How would you describe your time at KTH so far?

My time at KTH has been full of learning and personal growth. Starting a new life in a new country wasn’t easy, and adapting to it took time. But as time passed, every course and experience here has helped me see things differently and believe more in my capabilities. I’ve learned to trust myself and to work with people from different cultures and perspectives. That’s been one of the most valuable parts of this journey.

There have been challenges, of course: deadlines, long days, group projects that didn’t always go as planned. But there have also been moments where I’ve felt really proud of what I’ve achieved, and I feel super excited about what’s ahead since I still have one more year here. Studying at KTH has pushed me in the best way. I’ve grown in confidence and in clarity about the kind of impact I want to create.

What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master’s studies?

If you’re thinking about applying to KTH, I’d say go for it. It’s a place that will challenge you, support you, and give you space to figure out what you want to build. You’ll learn a lot, make great friends and connections, and leave with more than just a degree.
