Admission requirements

Requirements for the Study Abroad Program

For entry to the SAP course packages you need to apply with a bachelor's degree, or for some packages, with adequate courses from your bachelor's studies. All documents should be officially verified from the issuing university with certified diplomas and transcripts in the original language and translated into English. If the originals are not issued in English, authorized translations should be submitted.

The specific requirements are described in each course description. Read through them carefully to make sure that you meet the requirements for the course package you choose.

Language requirements

English language proficiency equivalent to (the Swedish upper secondary school) English course B/6. There are different ways to fulfil the English language requirements:

1. English language tests

  • TOEFL
    Paper-based test: total result of 575 (written test, minimum grade 4.5)
    Internet-based test: total result of 90 (written test, minimum grade 20)
    English test results from TOEFL should be sent directly from the ETS test centre to University Admissions in Sweden (institution code: "Sweden 3477"). Examinee score reports, photocopies, TOEIC or institutional TOEFL are not accepted as sufficient proof of English proficiency. www.toefl.org
  • IELTS
    A minimum overall mark of 6.5, with no section lower than 5.5 (only Academic Training accepted). A copy should be sent to University Admissions in Sweden, they will verify the result online. www.ielts.org
  • University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL)
    Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) Certificate in Advanced English
    Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
  • Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments
    Michigan English Language Assesment Battery (MELAB), for English 6, minimum score of 90
    University of Michigan, Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE) for English 6
  • Pearson PTE Academic
    Please send a copy of your Institution Score Report. For English 6: Score of 62 (writing 61)

2. Previous university studies

English proficiency tests are waived for the following:

  • Students with a Bachelor's degree from a university where English is the only language of instruction, in accordance with the recommendations in the edition of the International Handbook of Universities that was current the year the degree was awarded.
  • Students with a Bachelor's degree (equivalent to 180 ECTS credits) where English is the main subject.
  • Students with a Bachelor's degree (equivalent to 180 ECTS credits) in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Medicine, Pharmacy, Science or Technology from India or Pakistan.
  • Students with 30 higher education credits (equivalent to 30 ECTS credits) from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland where the language of instruction of the course is English. The language of instruction must be clearly stated on official documents.
  • Students with 30 higher education credits (equivalent to 30 ECTS credits) from Great Britain, Ireland, Malta, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, or English speaking parts of Canada. The language of instruction must be clearly stated on official documents.
  • Students with a formal transcript or degree certificate where it is clearly stated that the language of instruction was English. Other documentation regarding language of instruction will not be accepted.
  • Turkish students who have studied a 1 year preparatory class in English at a University. The class must be listed on the transcript or in a certificate from the university stating that you have received a passing grade.

3. Upper secondary school

In some cases English proficiency can be fulfilled from upper secondary education , e.g. GCE O-level (minimum grade C). Proof thereof must be included in your application.

Selection process

The selection process is based on the following criteria: university and previous studies (for instance GPA, grades in specific subjects and English).
