Synthesis of Bio-based and Recyclable Thermosets

Project information

This projects aims to utilize these future green platform chemicals to develop novel biobased thermoset materials. The aim is to reach materials with similar or better properties than today’s petroleum based thermosets. Special attention will be paid to green nature and up‐scalability of the utilized polymerization methods to achieve green materials. The synthesized materials will be thoroughly characterized for their structures, properties and performance. During the last step processes will be developed to achieve “closed-loop materials” where the biobased thermosets are recycled back to original chemicals and other functional intermediates, which will be further utilized for production of new thermosets with equal properties. The project is financed by China Scholarship Council through KTH-CSC Programme.
