Supervision

The education is conducted under the guidance of a main supervisor, together with at least one assistant supervisor, in accordance with the individual study plan.

Individual study plan

The doctoral student's education is specified in an individual study plan, which is revised at least once per calendar year. In connection with the audit, the doctoral student's progress and plans for the continued work are assessed and documented.

Examples of activities to meet the learning objectives are shown in the following table learning objectives of the doctoral program (pdf 109 kB) , which can be a support when preparing the doctoral student's individual study plan.

The main supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the individual study plan is established and revised at appropriate times (at least once per calendar year). The study plan is determined by PhD program director.

The course part

The course part has two purposes: firstly to provide a broad cultivation within the subejct area of Industrial economics and management and secondly to provide subject-specific depth within the special area of the dissertation work.

The compulsory courses comprise 30 credits for a doctoral degree and 18 credits for a licentiate degree. In addition to the compulsory courses, there is a high degree of flexibility in determining which elective courses (30 credits for the doctoral degree, 12 credits for the licentiate degree) that are included in the education.

Both the mandatory and optional courses can be studied at KTH or at other universities/high schools and research institutions. The courses must be studied in accordance with the individual study plan. Additional information is found at Doctoral courses .

The essay/thesis part

The essay/ thesis  part aims for the doctoral student to develop an ability to independently contribute to research and the scientific community.
