OpenRatio will compete for Sweden in I2P® Global

Published Oct 09, 2012

Last Friday, October 5th, Terrence Brown and the Division of Business Development and Entrepreneurship at the Institution Department of Industrial Economics and Management at KTH hosted the innovation competition Idea to Product (I2P ®) Sweden. The winners of the competition are OpenRatio and they will represent Sweden in the global competition November 15-17th at KTH.

OpenRatio is competing for Sweden in I2P® Global

2011 was the first year in I2P® Global history that the competition was held outside Austin Texas, and after a very successful event in Stockholm the organizers' purpose was to develop the competition in Sweden to be able to compete with a leading contribution in 2012. We are therefore very proud to announce that the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) for the first time, on October 5th, conducted I2P® Sweden. Competitors from Stockholm and Linköping, distributed in seven teams, were in Stockholm to compete in the tracks ICT and Life Science. After an exciting competition it is now decided that OpenRatio will represent Sweden in the Global competition November 15-17th at KTH.

  •  We were fortunate to have all of our expert judges return from last year's event. Each one said the teams and their idea were much stronger than last year. After an unusually long deliberation, the panel selected a strong idea and a strong team to represent Sweden (and the SSES schools) in the Global competition November 15-17th, says Terrence Brown host of the event and the one who worked to get I2P® Global from the U.S. to Sweden.

The winning team, OpenRatio, is a Swedish company that provides a unified web cloud interface with one-click publishing to major platforms, solving mobile fragmentation. This means that companies can reach their customers through one platform. OpenRatio empowers telecoms, agents and end users to publish cross platform mobile and web applications in seconds. They also offer the service of designing your own mobile applications without costing a fortune.

The purpose of the I2P® competition and the reason that the Department of Business Development and Entrepreneurship at KTH, together with Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship (SSES), is hosting the event is to encourage, educate and simplify the commercialization of innovation and university research. At the same time it gives Sweden, Stockholm, KTH and SSES the opportunity to prove to be a prominent center for innovation.

The success of the I2P® program is based on the success of the students and their ability to commercialize research. The competition also facilitates international networking and knowledge sharing between top universities, and between these schools and the specialist competencies provided by the judges. This November, teams from all over the world are coming to Stockholm to compete in I2P® Global and we look forward to arrange the best competition ever!
