Autoimmunity profiling, Neuroproteomics & COVID-19 serology
The research in the group denoted Nilsson lab is devoted to affinity proteomics based biomarker discovery and validations. This is mainly explored within neuroproteomics and various autoimmune disorders and enabled through the development and utilization of different types of protein array formats using protein fragments and antibodies from the Human Protein Atlas.
The main focus within neuroproteomics is on protein and autoantibody profiling in plasma, serum and CSF within multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and psychiatric disorders.
The autoimmunity disorders mainly being explored and characterized for their autoantibody repertoires are currently myositis, sarcoidosis, fibrosis, vasculitis and systemic sclerosis.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the group has to a large extent shifted the focus towards the development and utilization of high-throughput multiplex bead-based methods for the analysis of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies.
