FE-SEM Thermo Fisher Apreo 2s LoVac (2MILab)

Apreo 2s at 2MILab is equipped with a 60 mm2 Thermo Fisher Ultradry EDS detector enables high resolution and high sensitivity “in situ” EDS imaging and spectroscopy within the SEM software.

The Apreo 2s at 2MILab (KTH Research Instructure at CBH School) optimized for analysis of materials for sustainability, commissioned mid-2023, is a state-of-the-art SEM featuring the Trinity in-lens detection suite, allowing sub-nm imaging of conducting and insulating samples without the need for coating. The intuitive software includes routines for drift-compensation on charging samples. For further analysis capability on insulating samples (EDS in particular), the microscope also has low vacuum capability, with a special in-chamber backscatter detector. Use of in-column detectors is maintained via a nose cone on the lens.

A 60 mm2 Thermo Fisher Ultradry EDS detector enables high resolution and high sensitivity “in situ” EDS imaging and spectroscopy within the SEM software. This provides a rapid and convenient method to identify elements on the sample. To access the full analytical power of the detector, quantitative measurements can be performed using the dedicated Pathfinder software.

Transferring air-sensitive samples such as lithium-ion battery electrodes from a glove-box is uniquely enabled via the CleanConnect load-lock interface.
