Our student ambassadors have come together to share their top tips on how to ace your application. Dive in and discover how to make your application stand out. Let’s get started on this exciting journey together!
Tip 1 – Srikar – Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute!

Crafting a strong application takes time, so start today! Iterating your resume and letter of motivation and seeking feedback from mentors and peers are crucial steps. Aim to submit well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute stress. If you have specific questions about your programme of interest, don’t hesitate to ask us about master’s studies. You can also connect with KTH’s Digital Ambassadors on Instagram for additional insights.
While this may not apply to everyone, I strongly advise against using agencies that charge for application assistance. The application process is straightforward, and you’ll likely put more care into your application than any agency would. Good luck with your application 😊!
Tip 2 – Alex – Take it easy

If you’re here, you’re probably gearing up to apply soon to KTH. And hey, I get it—it’s exciting and maybe a little nerve-wracking. But let me tell you something: take it easy. Seriously! It’s all going to be okay, and here’s how you can keep things chill while putting together an ✨amazing✨ application:
- Don’t stress
Easier said than done, right? But trust me, freaking out won’t help. Instead, take a deep breath and remind yourself that this is just one step in your journey. You’ve got this! - Be yourself
There’s no “perfect” applicant. Just show who you really are—your interests, quirks, and passions (whatever you feel like sharing). Authenticity always shines through. - No need to rush
There’s still plenty of time until the document submission deadline on 3 February! Use it wisely. Double-check your application, polish your documents, or just take a break. You’re not in a race—pace yourself.
But really, it’s totally OK to feel a little freaked out. Everyone does! But remember, this is just one of many exciting steps in your journey. So, take it easy—you’re going to do just great. Good luck!
Tip 3 – Regina – Show your motivation

While working on my application, writing the motivation letter was the hardest part. Truthfully, I applied to four programmes to increase my chances of acceptance, but my heart was set on getting into Biostatistics and Data Science. To write my letter, I had to reflect deeply on my career so far, what I wanted to learn, and what I aspired to achieve in the future. I thought about my past projects, sources of inspiration, and my ambitions.
I believe the key to a successful application is a compelling motivation letter—it’s your chance to showcase who you are beyond grades and requirements. My tip is to take a step back, think about what truly inspires you, and envision your future at KTH. Start by brainstorming in bullet points, and give yourself plenty of time to let your ideas “marinate”. Writing it over several days allows you to see the bigger picture and refine your message.
This applies to everything, not only motivation letters. Make sure to organise your ideas first, take your time, and get inspired ✨
Tip 4 – Annysia – Leverage your background

My tip for creating a strong master’s application is to leverage your background – whether that’s academic or professional. If you’re coming straight from your bachelor’s, highlight your internships, thesis, and contribution to student organisations.
If you already have a professional background, the key projects you were part of, the problems you face in real-world situations, and the international teams you’ve worked with. Use those experiences to relate to KTH’s values and the specific programme you’re applying for.
Tip 5 – Ruban – Do it once, do it right.

When it comes to applying for a master’s programme, the best approach is simple: Do it once, do it right.
Before hitting the submit button, review the general and program-specific application requirements carefully. Make sure to include all the necessary documents and details. While KTH does reach out if any required documents are missing, keep in mind that with thousands of applicants from all over the world, responses can take some time.
To avoid unnecessary delays, double-check the requirements and ensure your application is complete before submission. Once you’ve done this, you can relax, knowing you’ve taken the right steps toward a smooth application process.
