Stan Van Dooren, MSc student
Stan received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Avans University of Applied Sciences, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. He did his thesis in the Schaufelberger group on the synthesis of cleavable macrocycles for use in rotaxanes. He joined the group as a MSc student in March of 2025 for a 10 week internship.


Márk Holczer, MSc student
Márk earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary. For his thesis, he worked in the Kele group at HUN-REN RCNS, focusing on the synthesis of next-generation photocages. He joined the Lundberg Lab as an MSc Erasmus+ student, contributing to an electrochemically driven defluorinative project.
Caterina Momoli, visiting PhD student
Caterina graduated in Organic Chemistry from Sapienza University of Rome in 2019. She joined the Lundberg lab as a second-year PhD student at the Department of Physical and Chemical Sciences at the University of L’Aquila for a 6-month internship in the first half of 2025.

Cristiana Margarita, PhD
Cristiana graduated in Organic Chemistry from Sapienza Università di Roma in 2014. Then, she worked on Ir-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenations under the supervision of Prof. Pher G. Andersson at Stockholm University, where she received her PhD in 2019. She worked in the Lundberg Lab from fall 2019 to spring 2025 with methodology development and kinetic studies of Lewis acid-catalyzed transformations and electrosynthesis.

Andrey Shatskiy, PhD
Andrey received his MSc degree in organic chemistry from Stockholm University in 2014 and subsequently joined the group of Prof. Björn Åkermark at Stockholm University as a doctoral student. His graduate studies were focused on the development and mechanistic studies of ruthenium-based water-oxidation catalysts. After receiving his PhD degree in 2018, Andrey joined the group of Assoc. Prof. Markus D. Kärkäs as a postdoctoral researcher at KTH, focusing on the development of photochemically-mediated organic reactions. Between 2023 and 2025, Andrey worked in the Lundberg group as a postdoctoral researcher on electro(photo)chemical synthetic transformations.

Kevin Breitwieser (PhD)
Kevin conducted his undergraduate studies at TU Darmstadt and Fraunhofer LBF. After obtaining his M.Sc. degree, he joined Professor Peter Chen's research group for physical organic chemistry at ETH Zürich as a PhD student. In 2021, he graduated on the topic of palladium-catalyzed cyclization reactions. In 2022, he was a postdoc in Dominik Munz’s research group at Saarland University, working on novel palladium complexes (e.g., palladium nitrene complexes) and computational studies (e.g., elucidation of reaction mechanisms). During 2023-2024, Kevin carried out research on electroreductive activation of C‒F bonds and analogous polarized sigma bonds.

Sergio Pérez Morente (MSc)
Sergio holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (2022) from Universitat de Lleida, Spain, and Energy Technology (2022) from Yrkehögskolan NOVIA, Finland. His research during this time focused on biomethane production using CO2 from waste management plants, involving green hydrogen production and storage from renewable sources. In 2024, he pursued a master's degree in Chemical Engineering for Energy and Environment at KTH, with a diploma work that explored electrosynthetic C-OH bond activation in alcohols.

Arvid Hedin (MSc)
Arvid received his BSc (2022) from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He is doing his master thesis in Molecular Science and Engineering MSc program at the Division of Organic Chemistry. In his MSc project in 2024, he worked with electrosynthesis and cleavage of aryl thioether bonds.

Miguel Samuel
Miguel pursued a bachelor's degree (B.E.) in chemical engineering at City College of New York and was interning with the Lundberg group during the summer 2024. He began his research experience with the National Institute of Health (NIH.) Bridges to a Baccalaureate fellowship at LaGuardia Community College in Queens, New York, synthesizing S-alkyl substituted iron(III) porphyrin with Professor Amit Aggarwal. This experience built the foundation for an undergraduate research experience at Columbia University in the summer of 2023, working on the solid synthesis of tungsten diselenide. While interning at KTH he was working on electroreductive transformations.

Guillermo Ahumada, PhD
Guillermo received a BSc degree in chemistry (2012) from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso (PUCV), Chile, and a Ph.D. degree (2017) in cotutelle between the PUCV (Chile) and the Université de Rennes 1 (France) under the supervision of Prof. Carolina Manzur and Dr. Jean-René Hamon, focusing on the electrosynthesis of metal-containing polymers. After completing his Ph.D. in 2017, he moved to UNIST, South Korea, where he began a postdoctoral position in Prof. Bielawski's laboratories and, later, a senior research position with Prof. Grzybowski (2020). Between August 2022 and February 2024, he performed research on electrosynthesis in the Lundberg lab at KTH.

Natalia Wojciechowska, visiting PhD student
Natalia received her master’s degree in organic chemistry from University of Warsaw in 2021. Her graduate studies were focused on hypervalent iodine compounds with particular focus on the synthesis of iodonium salts and their application as functional groups transfer reagents. Natalia enrolled as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. hab. Marcin Kałekb in 2021 and is currently working on electrochemical asymmetric oxidations mediated by chiral iodoarene electrocatalysts.

Robert Sibusiso Yafele, visiting PhD student
Robert obtained his BSc (2016), BSc Hons (2017) and MSc (2020) from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He did his MSc under the supervision of Associate Professor Henok Kinfe and his thesis was focused on the development of N^N^N cationic palladium(II) complexes and their catalytic evaluation in selected cross-coupling and hydrogenation reactions. He is currently enrolled as a doctoral student at the University of Warsaw (since Oct 2021) where he is working on electrochemical oxidations promoted by iodoarene catalysts, including enantioselective processes under the supervision of Dr. hab. Marcin Kałek.

Pintu Maity, PhD
Pintu was a postdoc in the lab between 2021-2023, working on electroreductive methodology development.

Victoria carried out a 15 credit project course over two periods in electrosynthesis during 2023, supervised by Malin and Piret.

Nils Schwarz, BSc
Nils was an undergraduate research intern from the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz, Germany, working with Julius on electrochemical activation of strong polarized sigma bonds bonds during 2022 - 2023.

Davide Di Francesco, PhD
Davide was a postdoc in the lab during 2022 - 2023, working on extraction and catalytic functionalization of wheat straw-derived lignin.

Dhifaf carried out her BSc diploma thesis as part of the Chemical Engineering program at KTH during the fall 2022, working on catalytic hydrolysis of ethers using water-compatible Lewis acids.

Annabelle was a MSc student intern from ESPCI Paris – PSL during spring/summer 2022, working on the synthesis of benign bisphenols by using Lewis acid catalysts.
