Innovative Food Research in the Spotlight During Swedish Food Federation Visit to KTH
The Research and Development Committee of the Swedish Food Federation (Livsmedelsföretagen) visited KTH Royal Institute of Technology on Thursday September 19th, engaging in a day of knowledge-sharing and collaboration on cutting-edge food research.
The visit started with introductions, followed by an overview of KTH FOOD presented by KTH FOOD’s Director Francisco Vilaplana, Executive Director Erica-Dawn Egan, and director of studies for the LiFT PhD School Anna Hanner.
Researchers from KTH then shared insights into their latest projects in the food sector. Topics included environmental assessments of aquaponic food production by Elisabet Henriksson, innovative methods for using food waste through enzymatic engineering by Carl Rämgård, dietary impacts on gut health by Yuvarani Masarapu, and the potential of synthetic biology to enhance microbial protein production by Paul Hudson.
The committee concluded their visit with a lab tour at the Division of Glycoscience, gaining a closer look at KTH’s advanced research facilities, and marking a successful exchange of ideas between KTH and the Swedish Food Federation.
