KTH researcher receives the Leonardo da Vinci Medal 2025

Arnold Pears, professor at the Department of Learning, is this year's recipient of the Leonardo da Vinci Medal, the highest award presented by SEFI – European Society of Engineering Education.

The medal and a diploma
The Leonardo da Vinci Medal is awarded by the SEFI Board annually.

Arnold Pears  has been a leader in the development of engineering education research and has contributed countless scientific articles. He also has a long history of involvement in international scientific associations such as IFIP – International Federation for Information Processing, IEEE Education Society, and SEFI.

“I feel very honoured and at the same time humbled by such a prestigious award,” says Pears. “I would say that it is the most prestigious European award for those of us who conduct research in engineering education. It is a great honour!”

The Leonardo da Vinci Medal is awarded by the SEFI Board to “individuals who have made outstanding contributions to engineering education and who have had international significance.”
