Winner of the 2025 IEEE Fourier Award for Signal Processing

KTH visiting professor Björn Ottersten awarded for his contributions to array processing and its applications in wireless communications.
Björn E. Ottersten is the inventor of Spatial Division Multiple Access for wireless communications. This technology, which represents a significant paradigm shift in wireless communications, has found numerous applications and was among the factors that led to the Multiple Input Multiple Output revolution in communications. Much of the research which the award highlights has been conducted at KTH.
"His innovative work in signal processing continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible, influencing diverse industries, advancing cutting-edge solutions, and leading to the creation of vital technologies directly improving safety and connectivity,” IEEE Award states in their award motivation.
An IEEE Fellow, Ottersten is a professor at KTH since 1991 and joined the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT), University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg as founding Director in 2009.
