Damla

Damla comes from Istanbul, Türkiye. Previously, she studied Computer Science and Engineering at Sabancı University in Istanbul. She graduated in 2021 and worked in a bank as a Network Security Specialist for a year before coming to KTH. She is a gamer, and does Youtube jobs on the side. She likes spending quality time with her friends and listening to music.

Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

After I realised the importance of cyber security during my bachelor’s, I decided to further pursue my studies in this domain to gain more knowledge and develop better skills. A Master’s in cyber security at KTH will provide me with the security principles essential for professional and academic life so that I supervise the various processes, models, and technologies used in the industries to develop novel projects.

What are the best aspects of your programme?

The Cybersecurity programme was created to assist with the needs of the Swedish industry with the rising demand for security. This is a new programme, so it needs many security enthusiasts to direct the future of the programme and the Swedish Industry. There are significant aspects to choosing the master’s in Cybersecurity at KTH. The programme allows you to shape your future according to your dreams. It is integrated with the various industries, It has great guest speakers from the companies, and there are many courses you can choose from. The programme directors encourage students to study abroad for at least a semester.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

Here at KTH, we don’t have a limit on the number of students in lectures for my programme, whereas, in my previous studies, I could not attend some of my wished lectures because it was full. Through the library, you can access many books, ebooks, articles, etc. They have great resources for researchers. I like reading books which is a great bonus for me.

What do you want to do after graduating?

After completing my master’s, I would like to stay in the academy to do more research and contribute to the field. Doing a PhD while working on an industrial project is my dream job for now.

What would you like to say to students considering choosing KTH for master’s studies?

Sweden is a student-friendly and safe country. If you are planning to study abroad in a technology field, KTH is the best choice. KTH takes care of students and prepares almost everything before you even arrive here and begin your studies. If you have a question, don’t hesitate to ask. Professors, alumni, and other students are friendly and open to conversation. They will be glad to assist you with your concerns.
