Application and tuition fees

A degree from KTH is an investment for life. For studies at KTH, application and tuition fees are required for some students.

Who is required to pay fees?

Citizens of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland are not required to pay application and tuition fees. However, fees may apply for joint master's programmes that include universities with tuition fees for EU/EEA/Swiss citizens.

Students who are not a citizen of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland are generally required to pay application and tuition fees. There are however some exceptions.

Services for fee-paying students

The following addtional service apply for fee-paying students, EIT Digital, EIT InnoEnergy and Erasmus Mundus students, and KTH or Swedish Institute scholarship holders starting their studies in 2021:

Accommodation guaranteed up to 11 months during the first year of studies,
FAS plus comprehensive insurance (Swedish Institute scholarship holders, Erasmus Mundus and EIT Digital students are covered by separate insurance),
a pre-sessional English course during three weeks in August, free of charge.

How to pay the tuition fee

The tuition fee is charged in advance for each semester. You can pay by card or bank transfer. An invoice for the first semester is sent to admitted fee-paying students by email one to two weeks after the admission results are announced. The due date for paying the tuition fee is stated on the invoice. If your payment is not received by this date you might lose your place in the programme.
