Cinthya

Cinthya comes from Monterrey, Mexico. She graduated from Tec de Monterrey with a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. During her studies, she took on internships ranging from roles in the commercial department of a big steel player to process engineering in the automotive industry. She also had the opportunity to go on a 1-year exchange in Germany, which was very rewarding and led her to explore different options for her graduate studies, ultimately choosing KTH. She enjoys baking, photography and hiking.

Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

I chose this programme because I wanted the flexibility to explore different subjects since I'm still figuring out what I’d like to specialise in. The Industrial Management programme offers a solid foundation that bridges the gap between my technical background and management theories. What really stood out to me was the versatility of the electives. You can shape your study plan to include courses in areas like AI, sustainability and energy systems, or even Swedish, which makes the programme both broad and adaptable.

What are the best aspects of your programme?

One of the best parts is definitely the group work. It creates a really dynamic and engaging learning environment. I’ve learned a lot from working with classmates from different backgrounds. Also, the exercise sessions are incredibly helpful. They do a great job of reinforcing the lectures and making sure the concepts really stick.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

Studying at KTH has been quite different from my previous university experience. Back then, the focus was more on technical content and working individually. At KTH, there’s a much bigger emphasis on group work, which has been a great way to learn from others and improve collaboration skills. Also, most of my previous lectures were in the evening, while at KTH, mornings are usually free for self-study, which helps me stay organized and make the most of my day.

How is student life in Stockholm?

It’s amazing! There’s so much going on, and I genuinely believe there’s something for everyone, and if not, you can always start something new! KTH has a wide range of student associations. I’ve personally joined the outdoor club, the swimming club, and Malvinas. One of the highlights for me was the THS International Reception at the beginning. it’s such a fun and welcoming introduction to both KTH and life in Stockholm. It really made me feel like I wasn’t alone in this new chapter.

How would you describe your time at KTH so far?

My time at KTH has been incredibly enriching. While there are still a few things on my to-do list; like joining the photography club or visiting KTH Innovation, there’s already been so much to be part of. From study visits and conferences to job fairs, social events, student clubs, and group projects, every day feels full of new experiences. What I really appreciate is that you can choose how involved you want to be outside of classes. There’s always something happening, but it’s entirely up to you how much you want to dive in.

What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master’s studies?

Don’t hesitate—go for it! Studying at KTH is more than just a degree; it’s a full experience. Beyond the high academic standards and the university’s strong reputation, there are so many opportunities to learn and grow outside the classroom. The inspiring lecturers keep you engaged, and while it’s definitely challenging, it’s also incredibly rewarding. The extracurriculars are just the cherry on top of an already excellent academic journey.
