''This programme allows the students to learn about cutting-edge technologies''

Rafael comes from Spain. His home university is Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He likes hiking, and Sweden is the perfect place for that because it has stunning natural parks.

What made you choose KTH?

KTH is one of the best universities in Europe, especially in the technological field. The masters I am currently doing is focused on Human Computer Interaction, being a unique opportunity to learn about this field. I also loved Stockholm and I definitely wanted to move here for at least a couple of years: It’s a nice, open city to enjoy and discover.

What do you like most about your programme?

This programme allows the students to learn about cutting-edge technologies and the fundaments of HCI, which is a field that has become really important in the last few years.

What do you like most about KTH?

How involved the professors are with the students. The student association (THS) is also a key component of university life. They organise lots of events for international students so we feel welcome when we arrive in Stockholm, and they do other things to make sure we get the most out of KTH.

What are your impressions of Stockholm and Sweden?

It’s a very nice and green country. In Stockholm you can easily find parks every few blocks, so nature is everywhere. That’s something I really enjoy! The weather is also colder than from my hometown, so I also appreciate a break from the heat!

What is your best memory from your time at KTH so far?

The excitement of arriving at the first event and having the feeling that I’m beginning a new chapter of my life.

Are there any differences between studying at KTH and your home university?

Yes! KTH is much more project focused when it comes to courses, while my home university usually relies more on exams. Furthermore, as I mentioned previously, professors are also more involved with the students, so that’s something I really appreciate.

What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master’s studies?

KTH is one of the best universities you can choose for your studies. It’s one of the top universities in Europe and the world, and it will give you the chance to meet lots of international and local students as well as offer you the chance to study subjects and concepts that might not be taught in almost any other European university.

Do you have a dream job after graduating from KTH?

I’d love to work at a videogame company. Thanks to what I’m doing in the master’s, I think I’ll be a good fit for one of the positions that I’m interested in, and Stockholm offers several options in terms of big studios like DICE and Paradox.
