Manav

Manav comes from India, but grew up in Dubai. He completed his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at VIT Vellore, India, and is now pursuing his Master's in Vehicle Engineering at KTH, specialising in Vehicle Dynamics and Controls. In his free time, you'll find him out exploring Stockholm, travelling around Europe, following Formula 1, playing badminton, or simply enjoying a good time with friends.

Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

Choosing this programme was an easy decision for me. I have always been fascinated by cars, so pursuing a Master's in Vehicle Engineering felt like a natural step. KTH stood out for its balance of theory and hands-on learning, with course content that stays relevant in a rapidly evolving automotive industry. The strong emphasis on sustainability was a big plus, too. Beyond academics, KTH's international environment and solid industry connections with companies like Volvo, Scania and Öhlins made it even more appealing. And of course, the prospect of living in the beautiful city of Stockholm only made the decision easier!

What are the best aspects of your programme?

The programme offers an ideal mix of theoretical knowledge and practical application, along with a strong emphasis on teamwork and cooperation. Students are encouraged to work together in group assignments and share their knowledge which makes for a more collaborative learning environment. On top of that, the strong industry collaborations really help bridge the gap between what we learn in the classroom and how it's applied in the real world. We learn not only for the exams, but understand how to apply our knowledge in the real world which prepares you well for life beyond university.

How is student life in Stockholm?

Student life in Stockholm is vibrant and fun! The best time to meet new people and engage with KTH's diverse student community is during the International Reception. The first month is packed with activities that give you a real taste of what student life here has to offer, and you're bound to meet like-minded people along the way. Beyond that, the various student chapters and clubs host events throughout the year, so there's always something going on, whether you're looking to pursue your interests or simply try something new! And when you need a break from your studies, Stockholm itself is the perfect escape as it's a wonderfully student-friendly city with plenty to see, do, and explore!

How would you describe your time at KTH so far?

My time at KTH so far has been extremely rewarding. Moving to a new city for my Master's was something I expected to be quite challenging, but KTH and Stockholm have made me feel right at home. The studies are demanding, but they challenge you in the best ways, motivating you to collaborate and think of innovative solutions. And after a long day of classes and group projects, there's nothing better than unwinding with friends, whether that's cooking together or even heading out to one of the many organised events. There's always something going on! This past year has shaped me both personally and professionally, and I’m looking forward to what’s next!
