Prediction of ageing of thermoplastics exposed to alcoholic fuels/biodiesel
Use of biofules such as biodisel and alcoholic fuels in automobile is highly expected to reduce our dependence of fossil fuel and help to reduce environmental pollution. However, biofules prove to be aggressive to the plastic items such as fuel lines and connectors in the fuel system of automotive vehicle. This project aims to:
- Understand interactions between biofuels and plastic items and their effect on biofuels and plastic items
- Predict the lifetime of plastic items through accelerated high-temperature ageing
- Develop efficient approaches to ensure the safe services of plastic items in the expected durability of automotive vehicle
The project is collaboration between KTH, Scania and Volvo Cars.
