About me
Dr. Jiechen Wu is a Lecturer at the Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Science and Engineering (SEED). He serves as a Director of Studies at SEED, and is also appointed as the Program Director for the master's program in Sustainable Technology at KTH.
Jiechen holds a PhD degree in Industrial Ecology from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. His research and teaching focus on industrial ecology, material flow analysis, sustainable resource and waste management.
During Jiechen's doctoral research, he worked on modeling and managing future anthropogenic emissions (nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon) in urban areas from a systems perspective. The primary focus of his research after obtaining his PhD has been on sustainable phosphorus management, nutrient flow management, sustainable development of food systems and resource management at different scales of industrial, agricultural, city, regional, global and catchment, by employing Material/Substance Flow Analysis, Life Cycle Assessment, integrated modelling and systematic approaches (selected publications).
Jiechen is involved in many of SEED's courses (listed below: Courses). He is the course responsible for Research Methodology and Theory of Science (MJ2673), Technology and Ecosystems (MJ2659), Waste Management (AL2130), and Degree Project in Industrial Ecology (AL227X), and also one of the main teachers in Cleaner Production and Industrial Environmental Technology (AL2143) and Sustainable Development for Problem Solvers: Exploring Sustainable Development (AL101V).
