About me
Olga Viberg has obtained her PhD in Informatics at Örebro University School of Business (Sweden).
She is associate professor (and docent) in Media Technology with specialization in Technology-Enhanced Learning at the Deparment of Human-Centered Technology (EECS) at KTH.
Viberg's research includes a focus on the design, deployment and evaluation of technology to increase the understanding and improve digital learning experiences and academic performance. More specifically, her work examines the areas of AI, learning analytics, and technology for improved student- and teacher support in educaton. In this work, she has been doing research in the areas of autonomous learning, digital assessment, cross-cultural research and responsible use of student data in STEM education and beyond, focusing on the issues of privacy, values and trust.
Olga supervised >60 master thesis projects, and > 80 bacherlor degree projects during the last few years.
Viberg coordinates the Bachelor Degree course in Media Technology, Introduction to Technology Enahanced Learning, and AI for Learning as well as two PhD courses: Introduction to Learning Analytics and Reserach Methods in Technology Enhanced Learning and teaches several other courses at different educational levels.
Viberg is an active member of the Digital Futures group on Educational Transformation at KTH, https://www.digitalfutures.kth.se/about/governance/working-groups/engineering-education/ and several international networks (EATEL, L@S, SOLAR).
She has served as the keynote speaker at several prestigious international conferences (e.g. EDUCON, IMCL, L@S'25, SIG'27). Viberg has also contributed to the UNESCO policy work on quality of online education and teachers' AI competency development.
Viberg is the main organizer of the Nordic Learning Analytics Summer Institute'21 and '22. She serverd as the PC chair for the two high ranked conference: Learning@Scale 2023 (https://learningatscale.acm.org/las2023/) and ECTEL2023 (https://ea-tel.eu/ectel2023/registration).
Currently he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the high ranked International Journal of Learning Analytics (2022- present).
Viberg served as the vice-president for the international Society for Learning Analytics Research(SoLAR), https://www.solaresearch.org/ (2024/25) and from 2025 served on the Executive Board for the European Association of Technology-Enhanced Learning (EATEL), https://ea-tel.eu/ and the steering committed for Learning@Scale.
