Several attempts have been made to classify different forms of learning objectives. One of the most popular is the so-called Bloom's taxonomy. To get a brief overview, please read the following.

Written reflection

You should write a reflecting text of 500-600 words (about a page). The text should be written as one piece of text and thus not repeat questions or contain bullets.

A: For 1st year MSc students and those who have been at KTH as a MSc student less than one year

Write your text centered around the following

• Why?
  • Why did you choose this particular programme?
  • What are your life time goals (career related)?
  • What are your goals for the next 3-5 years?
  • What are your goals for the ongoing academic year?
  • Now that you have prepared your study plan and spent a number of weeks as a master student at KTH, what has surprised you the most (positively or negatively)?
  • What did you think of the program description?
• How?
  • What does it mean to you to learn something?
  • What form of learning was valued the most in your BSc programme?
  • What form of learning will be most useful for your future career?
  • Mention something that you really master. It does not have to have anything to do with your studies. How did you learn it?

B: For students that have already studied one year at KTH and now are in their 2nd year

Write your text centered around the following

• Why?
  • Why did you choose this particular programme? Would you make the same choice again?
  • How has your studies so far matched your expectations? What was the biggest surprise?
  • What are your life time goals (career related)? Has it changed since you started?
  • What are your goals for the next 3-5 years? Has it changed since you started?
  • What are your goals for the ongoing academic year?
  • What do you recognize and what do you not recognize in the programme descriptions?
• How?
  • What does it mean to you to learn something?
  • What form of learning will be most useful for your future career?
  • Have you noticed any difference in the courses on BSc and MSc level when it comes to how/what you are expected to learn?
  • Mention something that you really master. It does not have to have anything to do with your studies. How did you learn it?

Submission

• Write your name at the top of the page.
• Save the document in PDF format (there are several free PDF converters available, for example PrimoPDF if your word processing software does not support PDF). 
• Name your document seminar1-A/B-firstname-familyname.pdf and upload it to the corresponding assignment in BILDA (http://bilda.kth.se). You should have either A or B in the filename depending on which version of the topic you should answer.

Before the seminar

Read all the reflecting documents from your group. Make notes of the the most interesting parts in the reflections and be ready to discuss these at the seminar.

During the seminar

Take active part in the discussions! 

If you cannot attend the seminar

If you know in advance that you cannot participate on the seminar, indicate this in the doodle that will be sent out. If you miss a seminar, you need to write a summary report of  1000-1200 words (ca. two pages), reviewing the reflections of the other students in the group.  You need to submit this “reflection over the reflections” before the seminars (see deadline in BILDA). To be acceptable, your reflection on the reflections should make it perfectly clear that you read and reflected on the content of what the others wrote.
