SafeComp 2025 at KTH

Managing safety in an era of a software defined computing continuum

Published Sep 22, 2025

From 9-12th September, around 200 people from over 20 countries met at KTH in Stockholm for SafeComp 2025  - the 44th conference on Computer Safety, Reliability and Security!

The first SafeComp conference took place in Stuttgart way back in 1979, so considering safety related to computing systems is not new. But with accelerating technical innovation, including in AI and in automation, it is more important than ever to focus on safety and provide a meeting point between academia and industry.

SafeComp2025  took place in the KTH Student Union building (Kårhuset - a hidden gem for such events!), and was structured as usual with an initial day of parallel workshops followed by a 3-day plenary conference.

Social events  included a reception at the City Hall of Stockholm, demonstrations and entertainment in R1 (the KTH former reactor hall), and a conference dinner at the Vasa museum.

"Safecomp 2025 has been a great success", says TECoSA Director Martin Törngren. "We had a record number of workshops (8), recorded the keynote talks for posterity, and - for novelty value - Safecomp now has its own song!" (See here for the lyrics   - or here for the live performance !)

The proceedings are available openly until 4 October 2025: safecomp2025.se/conference-proceedings/

A summary of the highlights (pdf 4.6 MB) is also available.
