Atlas Antibodies' reagents enable leading research

Atlas Antibodies provides highly validated reagents that enable leading research in biology, diagnostics and medicine for the purpose of understanding and improving human health.

Atlas Antibodies builds on the heritage of the Human Protein Atlas project, where researchers from KTH, Uppsala University, Uppsala Akademiska University Hospital and Science for Life Laboratory came together to create a complete map of human protein expression and localization in normal tissues, cancers, and cell lines.

The researchers needed antibodies, but there simply were not enough around to buy. To solve this, the project started to manufacture its own antibodies with high-quality demands. As interest from researchers to take part in the project’s findings rose, so did interest from other institutions to obtain the antibodies. This is where the core of Atlas Antibodies’ business lies.

The company was founded in 2006, by over 80 people who had all contributed to the project. KTH Holding also owns part of the company. They took off to a flying start with a major contract within the first year. Today, Atlas Antibodies sells their antibodies globally, and the company keeps contributing to advancing knowledge in protein science.
