KTH is building innovation offices

Published Nov 27, 2009

KTH will receive SEK 9 million from the government to build up regional innovation offices. As a first stage in the process, KTH is initiating cooperation with Uppsala University’s innovation office under the name The Innovation Centre Mälardalen (ICM).

The government is allocating a total of SEK 16 million to 8 universities for the development of innovation offices. In the future, the offices will share a budget of SEK 50 million per year.

“This is extremely gratifying news. This investment in innovation offices will make it possible to further strengthen KTH’s work in innovation development and at the same time develop and make more professional the support which we already offer today” says Lisa Ericsson, department head at KTH Business Liaison.

The innovation office’s assignment includes acting as an adviser regarding innovation issues for researchers at other universities and university colleges within the region. Together with Uppsala University, KTH will provide advice to researchers at universities in the Mälardalen area. The counselling concerns issues such as patents and licenses.
