HARU Showcased at ICRA 2024 in Yokohama

A new version of the tabletop robot was demonstrated to 5,000 participants, featuring the soft robotic neck designed and developed at the Robot Design Lab.

At the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA 2024) in Yokohama, Japan, the Honda Research Institute of Japan (HRI-JP) together with members of the Socially Intelligent Robotics Consortium hosted a booth to present the latest version of HARU, a socially intelligent tabletop robot.
Among the advanced features of HARU latest version was a new soft robotic neck, designed and developed by the Robot Design Lab at KTH as part of the HARU project funded by HRI-JP. The addition improves the robot’s compliance, reliability, and expressiveness in motion, supporting ongoing research into natural and engaging human–robot interaction.

Over the course of the conference, HARU was demonstrated to 5,000 on-site participants, giving the international robotics community the opportunity to experience its updated design and capabilities.
