Internship on Multi-Material 3D Printing for Reinforced Soft Mechanisms
TU/e students join Robot Design Lab as interns for advancing multi-material 3D printing for soft robotics applications
The Robot Design Lab is pleased to welcome Imke Goofers and Fleur in ’t Zandt, two internship students from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), who will spend four months working on the development and optimization of 3D printing multi-material mechanical structures towards reinforced soft robots.
Working under the joint supervision of Asst. Prof. Georgios Andrikopoulos (Robot Design Lab, KTH) and Asst. Prof. Irene Kuling (Robotics Section, TU/e), Imke and Fleur will explore hybrid-material fabrication using fiber-infused and flexible filaments. Their work involves configuring high-temperature multi-nozzle printing systems, developing improved printing protocols, and producing reinforced soft prototypes for mechanical evaluation.
This collaboration strengthens the growing research ties between KTH and TU/e and contributes to ongoing efforts in reliable soft-robotic manufacturing within the Robot Design Lab.
