About me

Stefan has more than 30 years of experience as civil engineering contractor, consultant and scholar in the construction sector, and thus involved in many large infrastructure projects. Since 2010, Stefan is a full professor in Geotechnology and head of the division Soil- and Rock Mechanics at KTH. Before that, he had a shared position as Associate professor and as Technical Manager of the Foundation Region at Skanska Sweden AB. Stefan’s research interests are mainly related to ground improvement methods, grouting of jointed rock, risk and reliability analysis for design and construction in soil and rock. The division works on a vide front and has many funders such as the Swedish Transportation Administration, SBUF - the construction industry's organisation for research and development, BeFo - Rock Engineering Research Foundation, SVC- Swedish Hydropower Centre, SKB - Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co, The Swedish Research Council Formas and several consultant and contractor companies. He has been main supervisor for more than 15 degreed PhD- and Licentiate student. He has also been supervisor and examiner for 100 MSc thesis works, responsible for several courses at undergraduate and graduate level. Stefan is presently head of the doctoral program in Civil and Architectural Engineering.
