Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) and Industrial Ecology, KTH – a pilot project to develop guidelines for baselines and roadmaps to achieve climate positive urban district development

The Climate Positive Development Program was launched in May 2009. The program is a joint initiative between the Clinton Climate Initiative and the U.S. Green Building Council and will create a new global benchmark for sustainable urban developments. Stockholm Royal Seaport (SRS) is one of 18 Climate Positive projects in the world that will become examples of successful economic and environmental urban developments – demonstrating that cities can reduce carbon emissions and in grow climate-friendly ways.

Industrial Ecology, KTH, SRS and Climate positive program have started a joint pilot project to develop guidelines and formats in order to support urban districts creating baselines and roadmaps based on the Climate Positive Program. The project involves RSP and 2-3 more projects of Climate Positive Program. Industrial Ecology will in the project form the guidelines and analyze the information created by the involved pilot projects. This includes studies of system borders, emissions factors, and climate actions etc in the categories of energy, buildings & land use, transportation, water and waste.

The project is going on under 2010- 2011 in a first phase.
