The Engineering Physics programme is a broad educational programme where you can specialise into a number of different fields of physics. The programme is designed to give you a largesubstantial freedom to createtailor your own competence profile within physics. T

Subsequently, t
here are only two mandatory courses forthat all students within the programme, and they have to take (and these courses are usunormally taken during year 2 of the programme. These courses are:).¶

AK2030 Theory and methodology of science (Natural and technological sciences), 4.5 credits¶

SH2007 Research methodology in physics, 3.0 credits (*)¶

(*) However, students planning to make exchange studies at another university during the autumn semester of year 2, are strongly recommended to take the course SH2007 already in year 1 since it is given only once a year and it is difficult to find a corresponding course at another university.

Within each track, you must takThe major part of your studies are within your chosen track and you need to choose a track already when you start your studies at the programme. Within each track, there are 2 mandatory track courses and you must also choose a minimum of 25 credits from a list of conditionally elective courses. This ensures that you will reach a sufficient depth in your studies to be eligible for a master thesis course within your track. The programme has 5 tracks, where and each track can lead to several specialisations. The tracks are:

Theoretical physics (TFYA)

Subatomic & astrophysics (TFYB)

Optical physics (TFYC)

Nanophysics (TFYD)

Biomedical physics (TFYE)

Although you must choose a track already when you start the programme, it is still possible to change tracks. In such a case, please contact the programme director for a discussion.
