KTH awarded most Erasmus Mundus Programmes

KTH has been appointed coordinator of five Master’s programmes within Erasmus Mundus, the EU cooperation programme. In addition KTH will host an External Cooperation Window which is an exchange cooperation programme with countries outside Europe.

KTH had the greatest number of successful applications among all the universities in the EU as concerns acting as host university for Master’s programmes. Within each Master’s programme KTH works with 2-3 European partner universities. KTH is also the host of a doctoral studies programme - Neuroinformatics, which is led by Jeanette Hällgren Kotaleski, from the KTH School of Computer Science and Communication.

In addition KTH has, within the framework of Erasmus Mundus, been allocated EUR 4.6 million as financing for the project External Cooperation Window Lot 13 - India. This programme offers scholarship opportunities to exchange students, master’s students, doctoral students and researchers/teachers, in this case between eight Indian universities and ten European universities. Totally this project concerns 201 scholarships for 141 exchanges from India to these ten European universities, and 60 exchanges from the European universities to the eight Indian universities. The Project Manager is Alphonsa Lourdudoss from the International Secretariat.

Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme within higher education that aims at marketing EU as a “Centre of Excellence". Programme operations are run in consortiums consisting of at least three universities and will be coordinated by KTH through the International Secretariat. To date KTH has participated as a partner within six Erasmus Mundus Master’s programmes in Europe. KTH has previously acted as a partner university for cooperation projects outside Europe in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Brazil. This last applications round also resulted in a new partnership project in a Master's programme and four new partnerships within cooperation outside Europe.
