Published Jan 24, 2008

Ms. Minoo Akhtarzand has been appointed Director-General of Swedish rail infrastructure holder Banverket. She has an MSc in Engineering from KTH; her new duties will commence on 1 February 2008.

Minoo Akhtarzand has plenty of previous experience from a number of executive posts at Waterfall, the national power grid. Her most recent position was as head of the County Labour Board of Uppsala County.
– This gives med immense pleasure – becoming head of Banverket, exclaims Minoo Akhtarzand in a press release issued by Näringsdepartementet, the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise, Energy & Commerce, and she continues: I am honoured by this confidence in me which our government has just demonstrated. In the next few years Banverket will be facing a lot of challenges, and I hope I myself will be a constructing factor in heading some of the development of Swedish rail transport.

In 1974 Ms. Akhtarzand arrived at the age of 17 in Sweden. Her plans were to obtain an MSc in electrical engineering at KTH and then return home. However, the Iranian Revolution came in between, and Engineer Minoo stayed in Sweden and made herself a career here instead, reports the web site ledarna.se
