Candela

Candela comes from Spain, where she got her Mechanical Engineering bachelors. She also did a year abroad at Western Carolina University. She has dabbled in multiple sports, like synchronized swimming and horseback riding, but she now spends most of her time racing triathlons and training for HYROX, which is what interested her in the Sports Technology programme.

Why did you choose this master's programme at KTH?

The unique interdisciplinary blend caught my eye immediately, combining my technical background with my passion for sports.

What are the best aspects of your programme?

The learn-by-doing approach is excellent. They let us pick and work around what we are interested in, but they also push us to learn outside our comfort zone. Additionally, it's great that we can select electives from any programme or university in Sweden. I'm enrolled in a few courses outside my programme to maximise my experience, and our coordinator has been very supportive and willing to assist us.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

It's a much more practical programme! We have a few exams, and most of our grades come from hands-on learning through projects, which help us create a digital portfolio before even finishing our studies.

How is student life in Stockholm?

It's incredible, honestly. There is plenty to do in town and many options to travel inside and outside of Sweden. The university also organises many events, and most places are super student-friendly. And as a bonus, there are plenty of green areas like parks and forests, perfect for running!

How would you describe your time at KTH so far?

For me, it's been an eye-opening experience. They make learning fun rather than stressful, and the professors are incredibly willing to help! You also get to meet people from all over the world and have the time to pursue your own hobbies. Overall, it's been an enriching experience professionally, culturally, and personally.

What do you want to do after graduating?

My dream is to work for On Running in Switzerland, participating in the future of sports from the inside. However, a part of me also wants to stay in Sweden and work either in this field or with a biomedical focus.
