Om mig

My research focuses on the development of a cost-effective Thermal Energy Storage (TES) to maximize renewable energy penetration while providing stability and flexibility to the energy sector. The exploitation of high-temperature TES is a great opportunity to ensure a high share of renewable energy, and it contributes to decarbonizing the energy-intensive and hard-to-abate industrial sector. This research is aimed at contributing to the fulfillment of several Sustainable Development Goals, providing renewable energy, and ensuring more sustainable future industries, cities, and communities. My research work is based on both experimental studies, involving material investigations and design and development of innovative components' prototypes, as well as different system-level techno-economic analyses. My personal interest is mostly in energy storage technologies and renewable energy. 

Background

I am a mechanical and energy engineer. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and then I took my Master's Degree in Energy Engineering at the University of Genoa, Italy. I obtained a Ph.D. degree in Energy Technology from KTH in 2022.

Besides my academic work at KTH, I also work as an energy consultant at Europe Power Solutions.

At KTH

Besides my research work, I participate in other academic activities at KTH. I have supervised more than 20 MSc Thesis in the field of energy storage, solar energy, and energy system techno-economic modeling. I am the main teacher responsible for the course MJ2438 "Modeling of Energy Systems - Heat and Power Generation", and I am also largely involved in the courses MJ2500 "Large Scale Solar Power", MJ2411 "Renewable Energy Technology", and MJ2409 "Applied Energy Technology".
