About KTH Materials Platform

KTH's platform organisation for Materials (KTH Materials Platform) was created to support and catalyze interdisciplinary research in the materials field. An important goal is to facilitate interaction between expertise at KTH and external partners within academia, public organisations and companies with an interest in materials research.

Mission/Goal

The aim of the Platform is to:

  1. Stimulate and facilitate multidisciplinary research activities.
  2. Seek an increased allocation of external funding.
  3. Build and maintain external and internal relations within the Materials area
  4. Provide advice to the planning process for future infrastructure investments.

Organisation

Operational activities are run by the Materials Platform team . The team is managed by the Platform steering group , concisting of the School Deans and the KTH Vice President who is responsible for the KTH's Research Platforms .

The Materials Platform also encompasses severa research groups  at departments/divsions in the KTH school organisation, and competence centres  active in research related to Materials .

Partners

KTH-internal partners to the Materials Platform are Energy, Life Science Technology and the Transport Platform.

Business liason partners are ABB, Bombardier, Ericsson, Saab, Scania, Skanska, Stora Enso and Vattenfall; all strategic partners of KTH.
