Johan Karlsson

Professor in Optimisation and Systems Theory

Johan Karlsson conducts research in applied mathematics, focusing on optimization and systems theory. He develops control methods for multi-agent systems, such as traffic flow planning, addressing significant optimization challenges. His work spans theoretical challenges in mathematics to practical applications in infrastructure and medicine. Karlsson's research is particularly relevant in today's digitized society, where the combination of new technologies and mathematical methods can solve complex issues. By adapting mathematical tools for specific applications, like single cell sequencing and digitizing traffic systems, he addresses crucial societal challenges. A notable advancement in his research is the development of optimal transport methods for efficient traffic planning, contributing to the understanding and control of multi-agent systems. Karlsson's work demonstrates the power of applied mathematics to provide solutions to real-world problems and improve our world.
