Gorazd Meško

Gorazd Meško, PhD, is a Professor of Criminology at the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor. He has conducted several comparative research projects in the region of South-Eastern and Eastern Europe, including the development of policing, legitimacy of policing, crime prevention, fear of crime, and crimes against the environment. His recent edited books include “Understanding and Managing Threats to the Environment in Southeastern Europe” (Springer, 2011), “Handbook on Policing in Central and Eastern Europe” (Springer, 2013), “Trust and Legitimacy in Criminal Justice: European Perspectives” (Springer, 2015), and “Criminal Justice and Security in Central and Eastern Europe” (monograph series). He is currently a lead researcher on a national research project 'Safety and Security in Local Communities – Between Rural and Urban Perspectives’ (2019-2024).  

Katja Eman

Katja Eman, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Criminology at the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor. Her research interests include criminology (especially green and rural criminology), victimology, penology, crime prevention, and crime mapping. She has (co)authored publications on crime and criminal justice, including crime victims in general and victims of environmental crime, as part of her studies in the field of green criminology. In the past decade, she participated in different national and European research projects: Safety and security in local communities: Comparison of rural and urban environments (2019-2024), Legitimacy and legality of policing, criminal justice and execution of penal sanctions (2013-2016), and Water Crimes in Europe (2016-2017). She is currently a lead researcher in the EU research project SHINE on sexual harassment in nightlife city areas (2020-2022).
