The Master's Programme in Engineering Physics programme is a broad educational programme whereich allows you canto specialise into a number of differentwithin one fields of physics. The programme is also designed to give you a substantiallarge freedom to tailor your own competence profile within physics.¶ ¶ Subsequently, there are only twovery few mandatory courses that all students within the programme have to take (and these. Those two courses are normally taken during year 2 of the programme).:

AK2030 Theory and methodology of science (Natural and technological sciences), 4.5 credits

SH2007 Research methodology in physics, 3.0 credits (*)¶ (*) However, students planning to make exchange studies at another university

They are normally taken
during the autumn semester ofin year 2, arbut we strongly recommended to take the course SH2007 already in year 1 since it is given only once a year and it is difficult to find a corresponding course at another university.¶ ¶ The major part of your studies that students who plan for exchange studies during this period, should take the course SH2007 alre within your chosen track and you need toady in year 1.¶

Choosing a track You must
choose a track already when you start your studies at the programme. Within each track, there areThis track will become you main profile within physics, although it still gives you a large freedom of choice. A track has 2 mandatory track courses and you must also choose a minimum of 25 credits from a list of conditionally elective courses within the track. This ensures that you will reach a sufficient depth in your studies to be eligible for athe master thesis course within your track. The programme has 5 tracks and each track can lead to several specialisations. These tracks are:

Theoretical physics (TFYA)

Subatomic & astrophysics (TFYB)

Optical physics (TFYC)

Nanophysics (TFYD)

Biomedical physics (TFYE)

Although you must choose a track already when you start the programmeEven if you have started on one track, it is stiusually possible to change tracks once you have started your studies at the programmelater on. In such a case, please contact the programme director for a discussion.
