Anton Osika and Fabian Hedin – KTH Innovation Award 2025

Lovable, the platform that empowers anyone to build apps and software simply by chatting with AI, has earned its founders, Anton Osika and Fabian Hedin, the KTH Innovation Award for 2025. Their mission: to democratize access to technology and unlock innovation for all.
With Lovable’s intuitive AI tools, users with no technical background can turn their ideas into fully functional apps—no coding required. This vision has propelled Anton and Fabian, both former KTH students, to the forefront of Europe’s startup scene.
“Some of the world’s best ideas are trapped in the minds of the 99 percent who can’t code,” the founders often say. Their goal is to give everyone the power to bring their ideas to life.
The process is simple: users describe what they want to build in a chat, and Lovable’s AI transforms those words into a ready-made app. For Anton and Fabian, this is about more than convenience, it’s about equity.
“If only a small part of the population can benefit from AI’s value creation, we risk a deeply unequal world. Democratizing this technology is a big idea—not just commercially, but for the greater good,” Fabian Hedin has told Breakit.
Fastest growing company in the world
The response has been overwhelming. Lovable now boasts around 2.3 million users and is currently the fastest-growing company worldwide.
“It’s an incredible feeling to help shape the technology of the future – and to open the door for more people to be part of creating it,” says Anton Osika, when we catch him backstage at Kungsträdgården during Nordic Tech Week.
Both Anton and Fabian studied at KTH, with Anton famously completing his studies at double speed. In a podcast interview with Breakit, Anton credits meetings with KTH alumni who returned to campus to share their entrepreneurial journeys, inspiring him to pursue business over academia.
“I realized that in industry, you can have a much greater impact and make things happen much faster,” he says.
Anton embraces his “geek” label, recalling how he and his KTH friends would dive into AI research for fun. That was the kick-off for a sucessful AI journey.
The seed for Lovable was planted in spring 2023, when Anton posted a coding tool, GPT Engineer, on GitHub. Overnight, his inbox exploded. Only hours later, he and Fabian decided to launch a company.
Within weeks, Lovable had hundreds of thousands of users—many of whom had never programmed before. Today, entrepreneurs are building companies with million-euro turnovers in just days, thanks to Lovable’s platform.
Donate future profit
But Anton and Fabian’s ambitions go beyond business. Both have signed the Founders Pledge, committing to donate half their profits to meaningful causes if Lovable succeeds. They are also active in “Project Europe,” an initiative supporting European tech companies and helping young entrepreneurs build businesses at home rather than moving abroad.
“I look forward to seeing Stockholm become Europe’s leading startup city. Awards like this are a great way to inspire the next generation of tech founders,” says Anton.
Established in 2020, the KTH Innovation Award recognizes individuals from KTH who have made society better through their innovations.
“It’s fantastic to see the KTH Innovation Award and similar initiatives shine a spotlight on young entrepreneurs in Sweden and inspire more people to pursue their ideas. A big thank you to Daniel Ek, Mathias Uhlén, and KTH Innovation,” adds Fabian Hedin.
Anton’s advice to KTH students hoping to follow in their footsteps?
“Read online about how to build a great startup, and work closely with someone who has a real problem you can solve – probably with AI. Start small, focus on every part needed to build a successful company, and learn from those who’ve succeeded before you.”
