The department of Medical Engineering consists of six units conducting research and education within related fields.
The main research areas are ultrasound imaging, transmission imaging, emission imaging, medical sensors, technical solutions within neurosurgery and wireless sensor networks.
Four education programmes are conducted at the unit, as well as in-service training courses and courses on doctoral student level.
The units included in the department of Medical Engineering are: Medical Imaging, Medical Image Processing and Visualization, Neuronic Engineering, Structural Biotechnology, Basic Science and Computer and Electronic Engineering.
